MAPS at EMU is one of many university student-run chapters in Michigan's Region V, an officially recognized branch of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA.)

  • Mission Statement

The directives of MAPS at EMU are as follows:

To provide charitable services, programs, and classes that empower those with limited academic and/or financial resources, advocate minority representation, and ultimately discourage deterrence from a career in the Healthcare industry.

  • The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is the largest student-run network in America that strives to improve conditions for impoverished and minority students alike. It seeks to empower those with limited academic and/or financial resources, advocate minority representation, and ultimately discourage deterrence from a career in the Healthcare industry.

As an academic support student organization, we are proud to be able to offer Learning Beyond the Classroom (LBC) Group 3A Credit at the majority of our events and opportunities. As a part of the general education graduation requirement, LBC encourages students to take learning and applying themselves into their own hands.

    MAPS- January 2019

While initially tame, the month of January proved to be a cold, adversarial month for on-campus events and holding classes!

Extreme weather conditions led to the cancellation of multiple activities and staggered turnout.

Volunteer commitments included starting members providing teaching assistance at the Central Academy in Ann Arbor, in addition to youth mentoring in Ypsilanti through the Parkridge Community Center!
